Campsie High Kirk
I worked with the charity ‘Friends of Campsie High Kirk’ to make visuals and designs for their proposal to restore a ruined church building in Lennoxtown. These visuals are to help the charity communicate their vision for the building to the public.
This is a reconstruction I made of a ruined church building in Lennoxtown.
Artist Studio Forres
This is a university project to design artist studios with adjoining gallery, workshop, lecture space and outdoor space using an existing building.
Buchanan Street Pavillion
This is a university project to design a Pavillion somewhere on Glasgow's Buchanan Street to house an artefact from the Burrell collection.
Researching the site and the collection I found that historically there was a medieval chapel at the foot of Buchanan Street dedicated to St Thomas Beckett. I also noticed one of the items on display in the Burrell collection was a reilquary dedicated to St Thomas Beckett. This is the artefact and site I chose for the project.
The design is informed by the gothic vaults in Glasgow Cathedral, The only surving building in Glasgow contemporary with both the reliquary and the medieval chapel.
As a temporary structure design for disassembly was central to this project. The primary structure/arches are formed by connecting straight 2" x 2" FSC certified pine.
The skin is designed to be modular, using uniform transparent timber panels that can be reused on other projects. These are held in place by a slim timber frame.
The overall design can be disassembled and reassembled in different forms.
