Glasgow Cathedral 890
I've been working on an artist's impression for The Society of Friends of Glasgow Cathedral to convey how the cathedral may have appeared in the 12th century.
Following two years of intensive research, this will allow visitors to experience a conjectural plan of a previous building that is informed by contemporary and connected sites across Scotland and the UK, alongside the archaeological research previously conducted at the Cathedral.
The concept is to use a VR headset to show the previous building from 1136 from the same location as the viewer.
This will be unveiled on July 7th 2026 marking the 890th anniversary of the consecration of Glasgow Cathedral in 1136.
This is an artwork inspired by travelling minstrels in medieval Spain who would carry and display murals to broadcast news.
I recreated this concept by walking from Glasgow to Dundee with a rolled up canvas and invited the public to write and draw on the canvas.
I added these results into the design of a bell which I cast in bronze.
About Me
I am an artist based in Scotland; my skills range from casting in bronze and glass, to painting and digital art.
I also tutor art classes, most recently in painting.
I am particularly interested in heritage and the built environment, using digital media to reconstruct historic sites and to give an impression of the past.
I use these digital skills to create 3D environments and architectural visualisations.
